Embutido (Filipino Style Meatloaf)

Embutido is a Filipino style of meatloaf. It is a mix of ground meat and spices then rolled in a foil; It can either be steamed or baked. Embutido can be served as cold-cuts, fried slices or fried as a whole then slice.
I really love my convection oven since I am starting to learn cooking many kinds of dishes with it. One of it is embutido in which I baked and it was nicely done.
There are many variation of embutido in the Philippines. Ground chicken meat, ground beef and the most popular is  using ground pork. Some even rolled the seasoned ground meat with hard-boiled eggs and sausages.
In this particular recipe, I just did the basic embutido recipe. Since it was my first time and not so sure if it will turns good, I did not put much ingredients and stuffs.

Ingredients:
  • ¾ KG Ground Pork
  • 2 Pcs Eggs
  • 1 cup onion minced
  • 2 Pcs Carrots Minced
  • 1 Piece Green Bell Pepper Minced
  • ½ cup Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 1 Cup grated Cheese
  • ½ Cup Flour / Bread Crumbs
  • 2 Tablespoon Tomato Sauce
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Aluminium Foil

Procedure:
  1. Mix well all the ingredients accept foil.
  2. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
  3. Spread and flatten the mixture onto the center of each foil. Hold the foil and roll until the end of the other foil., sealing both ends. Roll the mixture back and forth until it tightly rolled.
  4. Place the embutido in a steamer and steam for an hour. Alternatively, if you don't have a steamer: place embutido in a wire rack on a baking pan, half filled with hot water. Cover with aluminum foil (Be sure the steam will not escape). Steam-bake in the center of the oven for an hour.
  5. Let it cool and slice into rings. Serve with your favorite catsup or sauces.
