Apple Pie

Videoke mode with my honey. And while he's at the peak of vocalization I am busy baking one of my favorite pies =D. Well, my husband is actually the one who requested for it and as usual in-charge of buying the ingredients. So not to prolong here's my version of apple pie from the scratch.

Ingredients:

Crust:
  • 1 1/2 cup self raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoon of softened butter
  • 6-10 tablespoon cold water

Filling:
  • 2 cups of chopped apples
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoon cinnamon powder

  • 1 beaten egg for coating

Procedure:
  1. Preheat oven to 180 deg C (350 deg F).
  2. Combine all ingredients for the pie crust. Mix well until you create a dough.
  3. Roll the dough in a flat surface, just enough for the pie crust.
  4. Form the flattened  dough in the pie plate.
  5. Bake the pie crust for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Flatten the remaining dough and cut 10 pieces long strips that will be used to cover the pie later. Otherwise, you can just used plain, round, flat dough to cover it. Set aside
  7. Combine chopped apples, cinnamon powder, sugar and water in a casserole.
  8. Simmer it for 3 minutes.
  9. Let it cool and pour it to the slightly pre-baked crust.
  10. Cover it with the dough strips.
  11. Once properly covered, brush it with the beaten egg.
  12. Bake for about 15-20 miniutes or until the top is golden brown.
  13. Slice and serve. Enjoy! =D

Luncheon Meat and Cheese Quiche

Luncheon Meat and Cheese Quiche, sounds good =D well, or should I call it left-over quiche. Bits and pieces of left-over luncheon meat and 2 kinds of cheeses are the main ingredients of this recipe. Even the crust is made of my left-over pastry puff. I decided to try this recipe in preparation of my "baon" for tomorrow's work.

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sliced luncheon meat
  • 1/4 cup cheddar cheese - slice & cubes
  • 1/4 cup Philadelphia grated Frozen cream cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 tablespoon minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • pastry puff for crust

Procedure:
  1. Preheat oven in 180 deg. Cel.
  2. Form the pastry puff in a foil or glass pie plate.
  3. Bake in the oven for 5 minutes. If the pastry puff deformed, don't worry as long as you have your base. Set aside.
  4. Put butter and onion in a bowl and microwave for 1 minute.
  5. Add in the bowl the chopped luncheon meat and well mix it.
  6. Put the luncheon meat mixture in the cooked crust. Spread it well.
  7. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese and cream cheese (Set aside some cheese for toppings). Set aside.
  8. Beat eggs, flour, salt and milk.
  9. Pout it over the quiche plate.
  10. Put the remaining cheese on top.
  11. Cook in oven for 20-30 minutes with 180 deg. Cel.
  12. Slice, serve and enjoy!
